My name is Arie van Oostende (14-01-1956). I have been painting and drawing since I was young. From 1980 to 1985 I visited and graduated from the AKI. I held my graduation exhibition in cc de Hagen here in Almelo (now part of the van der Valk hotel). After that I exhibited on various occasions. For many years I have also participated in the Almelo studio route, which is held every year at the end of September and people can view my studio or my work at another location.

Over time I have painted in different styles. From impressionistic I went to surrealistic, but returned to impressionism. In recent years I have been inspired by the landscapes on the Wadden Islands. There you can still find pieces of pure nature. The vast landscape and the dune landscape give me a feeling of freedom and kinship.

I am now also busy expanding my possibilities by also mixing digital techniques with painting. It can be a part of a photo (edited or not) on canvas and further edited with oil paint or acrylic paint both with wax, or with all three together, or having the digital painting printed on dibond. In short: mixed techniques.

On my site you can see a selection of the work that has been created over the years. But I do emphasize the digital contribution of the last few years.
It's a journey through the time I spend on this planet, and who knows where it will lead.
